Trip to Međimurje: Mađerka Hill and Štampar Winery

One summer day, we decided to take a trip to Međimurje, where just a few kilometers across the Slovenian-Croatian border stands Mađerka Hill. On this hill, surrounded by vineyards, stands a beautiful tower named after a Hungarian ballerina who moved to this area because of love.

The tower on Mađerka Hill is approximately 27 meters tall, and its peak is the highest point in Međimurje. On clear days, the view extends into three countries – Slovenia, Croatia, and Hungary.

The tower is open from Monday to Thursday from 9 AM to 5 PM, and from Friday to Sunday from 9 AM to 7 PM. The price for visiting the tower is quite affordable: €4.00 for adults and €2.70 for children aged 6 to 18.

There is a parking area next to the tower, and just a few meters away, in the shade of the trees, you can taste excellent wines at Štampar Winery, including Sauvignon, Pinot, Muscat, Rosé, and more. They also offer various snacks—cheese and meat with fresh bread, cracklings, and more. You can capture beautiful photos here, as they have set up some lovely photo spots for visitors—such as a flower-adorned swing, a bench with the tower in the background, and a bicycle with signs on it.
